A Guide to Registration

  • Applications must be submitted on Form XIV
  • Statement of Particulars (SoP) and Statement of Further Particulars must accompany the form
  • A separate registration process is required for every work
  • To register a work, you must enclose the pre-requisite fee with it
  • Petitioners must sign all applications
  • When the petitioner cannot sign the document, a Power of Attorney signed by the petitioner and verified by a lawyer must accompany the application.
  • You may pay the registration fee by Demand Draft, E-payment, or Postal Order to the Register Of Copyrights Payable At New Delhi

Documents to Upload for Copyright Registration

  • Your preferred browser should open
  • Discrepancy Letter can be viewed by clicking the View Discrepancy Letter tab
  • Press the checkbox to upload a document against an acknowledgement number
  • Pressing it will open a dialogue box asking how to upload documents
  • Choose your preferred browser
  • Click the View Discrepancy Letter tab to see the error document

  • You can upload a PDF by selecting it
  • Click on the PDF and select Upload.

Expenditure

Upon applying, you will receive an authentication number that you can use to track the progress of your application. After this, you must wait for 30 days. In addition, if a complaint is filed, the Registrar of Copyrights will hear arguments from both parties and determine who is at fault and who is right, then register that work. In the absence of an objection claim, examiners analyze the application, and if no discrepancies are found, the registration is deemed complete. Moreover, if any mistake is found in the application, they will notify the petitioner within 45 days so that they can correct it.
